These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the website at stopmaid.com (the "Site"), which is owned and operated by GO STEKO LLC, an Idaho limited liability company. By using the Site you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy, which describes what the Site collects, including anonymous visitor statistics such as page views, countries and devices. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. What the Site is

The Site publishes information, opinion and commentary opposing medical aid in dying ("MAID"), including statistics and articles.

2. Not medical, legal or professional advice

Everything on the Site is general information and advocacy. It is not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, does not replace advice from a qualified professional about your own situation, and does not create a professional relationship with GO STEKO LLC. Figures and statements reflect the sources and views available when they were written and may become out of date.

The Site is not a crisis or emergency service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number. In the United States and Canada, you can call or text 988 at any time to reach a suicide crisis line.

3. Acceptable use

Use the Site only for lawful purposes and without interfering with it or with other visitors. You agree not to:

  • attempt unauthorized access to the Site or its hosting, or probe, scan or test its security;
  • overload or disrupt the Site, for example with automated requests, heavy scraping or denial-of-service attacks;
  • copy, frame, mirror or republish the Site or substantial parts of it, except as permitted in section 4;
  • misrepresent the Site, its content or your relationship with GO STEKO LLC, or remove or alter any notice or credit on it.

GO STEKO LLC may block access to the Site for anyone who violates these Terms, without notice.

4. Intellectual property

The Site and its original content, including its text, graphics and original design elements, are owned by GO STEKO LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable copyright and other intellectual property laws. The StopMAID name and wordmark may also be protected under applicable trademark laws. Third-party software and fonts used by the Site are licensed under the terms on the Third-Party Licenses page, and those terms, not these Terms, govern your use of them.

You may view the Site, print or save pages for personal, non-commercial use, share links to it, and quote brief excerpts with attribution to StopMAID.com and a link back. Any other use of the Site's content requires GO STEKO LLC's prior written permission. These Terms grant no license to GO STEKO LLC's trademarks.

5. Articles and other material you send

Any article, text, image, correction, idea or other material you send to GO STEKO LLC (a "Submission") is subject to the following:

  • Ownership. You keep any copyright you hold in your Submission.
  • Your promises. You confirm that the Submission is your own work or that you have the right to send it, that it does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law, and that its factual claims are made in good faith.
  • Permission to publish. If GO STEKO LLC publishes a Submission, you grant GO STEKO LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to reproduce, edit for length, clarity and style, format, display and distribute it on the Site and in materials that promote the Site, with attribution to the author as agreed with you. You may ask for a published Submission to be taken down by emailing cheyton@gosteko.com; GO STEKO LLC will act on reasonable requests, although copies may remain in caches, archives and places where the material was already shared.
  • No obligation or payment. GO STEKO LLC does not have to read, publish or return a Submission and may decline or remove any Submission for any reason. No payment is made for Submissions.
  • Feedback. Suggestions and feedback may be used freely, without any obligation to you.

Please do not send confidential information, or personal or health information about other people, in a Submission.

6. Third-party websites and services

The Site may link to other websites and to social media profiles. Regarding sites not controlled by GO STEKO LLC, it is not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices, and may not endorse them or their operators. Your use of any third-party site is governed by that site's own terms.

7. Changes to the Site

GO STEKO LLC may change, suspend or discontinue all or any part of the Site at any time, without notice and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, without liability.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY AND COMPLETENESS. GO STEKO LLC DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY INFORMATION ON IT IS CURRENT, COMPLETE OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR PURPOSES.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, (A) GO STEKO LLC AND (IF ASSOCIATED OR HIRED) MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS AND/OR CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SITE OR ITS CONTENT, HOWEVER CAUSED AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY; AND (B) BECAUSE THE SITE IS FREE TO USE, GO STEKO LLC'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100).

10. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless GO STEKO LLC and (if associated or hired) members, managers, employees and agents from any claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, or any Submission you provide.

11. Changes to these Terms

GO STEKO LLC may revise these Terms by posting the revised Terms on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. They apply from the moment they are posted, and continued use of the Site means you accept them.

12. Governing law and disputes

To the maximum extent permitted by law, these Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to the Site are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in the State of Idaho have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, except that GO STEKO LLC may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of the Idaho courts. Nothing in these Terms affects any mandatory rights you have as a consumer under the law of the place where you live.

13. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Third-Party Licenses page, are the entire agreement between you and GO STEKO LLC about the Site. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. GO STEKO LLC's failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; GO STEKO LLC may assign them to a successor that operates the Site.
